Scott is based in Newcastle, Australia and has over 15 years experience working with a diverse range of individuals and organisations in a variety of roles. He enjoys working collaboratively and pursues opportunities that create value and contribute positively to people, organisations and society. Supporting leaders and team members to develop their capability to work productively together is a key focus of his work.
While completing a Bachelor of Social Science at Charles Sturt University, Scott began pursuing his passion for working with and developing children and adults through sport and recreation. The first four years of this work was spent leading groups in outdoor education activities, Duke and Edinburgh award expeditions, drug and relationship education programs and managing a youth centre in Western NSW with a key focus on engaging and providing opportunities for at risk indigenous youths.
In 2005, Scott took up a role as regional coordinator with the Australian Sports Commission. This work focused on community development, health and education through the implementation of community sport initiatives and adult coach education programmes. The purpose of this work was to increase grassroots participation through community engagement initiatives. To be successful in this role Scott engaged and built positive relationships with multiple stakeholders on a regional and national level including school principals, regional education directors, sporting organisations, government departments, community groups and politicians.
Scott is a founding Director of Pulse Climbing, Newcastle’s only dedicated indoor rock climbing centre which was established with three other local climbers in 2010. This is an ongoing project that has combined his passion for rock climbing, sport and business.
In 2011, Scott began working with an organisational development consultancy as a business support manager and consultant. This role provided him with the opportunity to develop his capability in the application of ‘Systems Leadership’ while supporting leaders and team members gain a comprehensive and practical understanding of how to create a positive, productive organisation.
Scott established his own management consultancy, SMF Consulting, and became associated with Salient Consulting in 2013. His particular areas of interest and expertise include organisation culture review and diagnosis, organisational structure, systems design, role clarity, individual potential profiling, leadership development and experiential leader and team member training.
